Sports Attractions

Fiji, like Australia, is a sports mad country. You can enjoy a huge range of sporting activities either outdoors or indoors.

Fiji has earned itself a reputation as being one of the finest Rugby Union Sevens nation in the world (having won the World Championship) - no small feat when you consider that the population is no bigger than 900,000 people. Many talented Fijian rugby players (like Lote Tuiqiri) play for overseas clubs and national teams the world over.

The nation has also spawned one of the finest Golfers in the world in local hero, Vijay Singh. You can play his Signature Golf Course at the famous Natadola Beach Resort, only 45 minutes drive from Nadi. Ask your FijiFocus.com consultant how this can be arranged during your stay in Fiji.

Other sports played in the country include soccer, rugby league, netball, squash, basketball, hockey, tennis, cricket, badminton, table tennis and many more.

If you intend to go reef walking, it would be advisable to buy a pair of reef shoes to avoid getting coral cuts. These can become infected and spoil your holiday. Always check with the Activities desk where you are staying to ensure that you have the right gear to help you enjoy the outing.

Fishing

The Fijian waters are a Fisherman's fantasy with Big Game fishing expeditions available on request. Or, you can jump in a small fishing boat and head out to sea with someone who knows the best fishing grounds. There's reef fishing and deep sea fishing all in a stone's throw of each other.  Dangle a line over the side of the boat while you enjoy a cold Fiji Bitter. Either way, your Fijian fishing experience will not be without a few "tall stories."

Golf

The Denarau Golf and Racquet Club is up there with the best in the world and is one of the premier courses in the Southern Hemisphere. It boasts 18 holes of challenging golf with each of the fairways designed in the shape of an animal (or so they say). While it is a relatively flat and beautiful tree-lined course, don't be fooled. There are heaps of hazardous waterways and bunkers that are strategically positioned for the hapless hitter.

It is beautifully landscaped and meanders through the picturesque resort island of native trees, flowers and fauna.

There are also 2 putting greens, a driving range and a Golf Pro Shop to help you enjoy the Fiji golf experience.

After your round, enjoy a long cold Fiji Beer in the ornate Colonial style surroundings of the Golf and Country Club where you can also enjoy a sumptuous meal of Fish and Chips, a Fijian Hamburger or any of the amazing dishes on their international menu.

Should you be travelling with the Fiji Focus Golf Tour to Fiji, you'll be happy to know that your Golf Clubs will be fitted and supplied at the Denarau Golf Resort which means that you don't have to take your own clubs if you choose not to.

However, if you do decide to take your own clubs to Fiji, it might be advisable to buy a smaller Golf Travelling Bag to make it easy for you to transport and carry through customs.  Please also remember that if you do this, you will need to check-in your clubs separately at the Special baggage counter at your local airport in Australia.

On arrival in Fiji, remember to collect your Golf Clubs from the special check-out counter at the Baggage terminal at Nadi Airport.

Please remember to pack your golf shoes and ankle socks which are permissible to wear (instead of long socks if you're wearing shorts) on Fiji Golf Courses.

A Golf cart will be supplied for your unlimited Golf use (Fiji Focus Golf Tour Packages only) at Denarau Golf Resort in Nadi.
